Applied Machine Learning for Database Autonomous Health

(2hrs)This session will focus on how Oracle is applying various Machine Learning technologies to the area of diagnostics to prevent performance issues and maintain availability. Details about the architectures and algorithms used for this Autonomous Health initiative will be covered for both Cloud and On-premise database deployments. Components and functionality covered will be Cluster Heath Advisor, Trace File Analyzer (Collector, Receiver and Web), Hang Manager, and Adaptive Bug Search.

Oracle Autonomous Health Framework to Preserve Performance and Rapidly Recover
(2hrs) This session will focus on the best practice use of the Oracle Autonomous Health Framework with an emphasis on consolidated or private cloud database deployments. It will utilize a soon to be released workload test driver and schemas that can be used to validate the prognostic and performance management functionality in Oracle AHF. Additionally, use cases focusing on best practices for target diagnosis and rapid recovery to preserve availability will be covered.


Mark Scardina - Director of Product Management

Mark Scardina has been with Oracle for 20+ years and is currently the Director of Product Management of Oracle's Applied Machine Learning Technologies group responsible for Oracle's Autonomous Health Framework and components. These include Cluster Health Advisor, Cluster Health Monitor, Hang Manager, ORAchk/EXAchk QoS Management and Trace File Analyzer.

Previously, he was in charge of development of Oracle's Trusted Information Exchange after having been Oracle's XML Evangelist for Server products and the Group Product Manager for the CORE and XML Development Group. Mark has chaired the Oracle XML Standards committee and participated on the OGC, W3C XSL and DOM Working Groups. He is a frequent speaker at industry trade shows and conferences and is co-author of 4 software patents and of several books including Oracle Database 10g XML & SQL.
